J Hus- Dem Boy Paigon

We screened the first cut of our film to the entire class on the large projector screen.  Our feedback from our classmates and teachers was good overall. The main concern in our video was that its story was still a little confusing. The class asked us: " If the paigon is the one who betrays, then why is he performing?" After that question was asked I then understood that we needed to remove some of the skeleton mask scenes from our video. However we plan to use it a few times as a still image to show the theme of betrayal in our video. So the day after we re-filmed a few scenes that we could use to replace the scenes where there was too much use of the mask.

We removed most of the footage which involved skulls. and replaced them some new footage we filmed.

Also there were mostly people who said that there was a fair amount of rap videos which contained masks, however the only issue was that the video is more performance based by looking at the rest of our footage.  So as a result of the feedback we removed most of the skull footage and replaced it with new footage we filmed in the studio.

Our classmates and teachers gave us positive feedback when it came to the editing itself. They said that the accuracy of the editing and clips syncing very well with the beat was done excellently. The choice of colours was compulsory in my eyes since, the video would have been a bit plain if there was no colour variation. So me and my work partner made use of the channel mixer tool in "effects" in Adobe Premiere Pro. This was very "pleasing to the eye" as my classmates and teachers said.
Lastly one of our classmates said a comment, that there was not enough shot variation all of the studio scenes we too zoomed out and the street scenes were too shaky and not very comfortable for the eye when viewing. Which is why (as said before) we re-filmed at different angles and focused on medium close ups. We also changed it up a little bit by including a hat and lip syncing the song whilst sitting on a reversed chair.

Print Product- Feedback

Overall, our print production pitch had good feedback due to the fact that we expanded on a lot of our ideas and fully explained our ideas and how the case studies influenced our print products. As i was producing my front cover, I asked some of my class mates for their opinions on my house style and theme throughout my print products. They said that they liked the use of the wall in the background and the fact that it represents the emotions of the artist. They felt that it would be appealing to my target audience and it compliments the costume which the artist was wearing because they were similar colours. As the colour of the artist jumper was grey, i made a paradynamic choice to use a wall which was a similar colour but a darker tone in order to represent the negative emotion which i was trying to portray in the front cover.

One of the main things which the audience was asking about was when we mentioned about, 'pathetic fallacy' because they didn't understand what we was trying to say. However, we explained that it meant showing the artists emotions through the background and the colours that we have used. For example, on the CD front and back cover, I used a wall which was very run down and dark to show that the artist was feeling angry and betrayed. The cracks in the wall represented the people he used to trust but then got betrayed. This was complimented by the facial expressions of the artist and the fact that his fist was clenched anchors the main track called 'Paigon' which is a slang term used for someone you do not trust. After explaining what it meant the audiences feedback was very positive and they liked the idea of showing the artists emotions through the surroundings and the environment. This links to the post modern concept of style over content due to the fact that I prioritised the style to create connotations to the audience rather than using words to make the audience interpret from. I wanted the feel of the CD to be more open, then closed as i think that when the audience can make different assumptions, it makes the music more interesting to listen to. One of the main features of my front cover was the direct address of the artist and the audience. When looking at case studies and receiving audience feedback, I noticed that there was a lot of CDs where the artist was making eye contact with the audience in order to create a personal relationship, therefore making the lyrics become more powerful.
